Canyon Monolith
Plate 1 from the Chicago: Light, Shadow and Steel Collection
A deep architectural canyon view looking down the South Branch of the Chicago River, framed by towering corporate glass and massive steel bascule bridges.
A study in dark architectural compression. Captured along the South Branch of the Chicago River during a warm July evening, this plate frames the heavy concrete and steel walls of the city’s financial core. By using long exposure techniques, the river’s surface is transformed into a dark mirror-like void, anchoring the glowing geometric lines of the high rise grid above and highlighting the absolute density of Chicago’s structural footprint.
