Goldeneye Ducks on Lake McDonald

A group of Goldeneye Ducks on Lake McDonald in spectacular conditions in Montana’s magnificent Glacier National Park.

Taken in January 2026, this photo was the result of a lot of patience and a very cold photographer, but I feel that the effort was well worth it when the light finally came into place and that small group of Common Goldeneye Ducks appeared as if from nowhere.

This photograph was captured using a 45.7 megapixel Nikon Z8 so will look great printed to very large sizes indeed.
